Education and Eligibility
To start, a high‑school diploma or higher is required. Most aspiring agents hold a college degree in business, finance, or a related field, but it is not mandatory. The Philippine Insurance Commission (PIC) does not set a specific educational threshold beyond basic schooling.

Professional Training and Certification
Enroll in a PIC‑approved non‑life insurance training program. These courses cover product knowledge, ethics, and sales techniques. Completion typically takes 3–6 months and ends with a written exam.
Pass the Non‑Life Insurance Agent Exam
After training, schedule the National Licensure Examination for Non‑Life Insurance Agents. The exam tests knowledge of policies, regulations, and customer service. A passing score is required for registration.
Register with the Philippine Insurance Commission
Submit the application packet, which includes exam results, proof of training, and a clean background check. Pay the registration fee and await the issuance of the license. The PIC may conduct a brief interview.
Maintain the License and Continue Learning
Renewal occurs every two years. Agents must complete 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in approved courses and file renewal applications on time. Staying updated on regulatory changes keeps the license active.
